What do you charge per square foot for a new home?

Because many variables are involved when pricing out a new home, quoting a price on a square-foot basis is difficult. Your personal tastes concerning interior and exterior finishes, design of the home and current building material costs all factor into the square-foot price. Our starting square-foot cost for a new home is approximately $125.

We strongly recommend obtaining construction project estimates that are written in a professional manner, detailing the actual materials used and the building process. Make sure you understand what's being described and the manner in which the project will be handled.

When getting price quotes from different contractors, be sure to keep all the details the same for comparison purposes. Allowances are often used by contractors when preparing quotes (such as flooring or cabinet allowances). As a customer, be aware of which building costs have been put into an allowance, the amount of the allowance and whether or not the allowance is realistic according to what your tastes are.

Do you have a design service?

We offer a full design service, complete with computerized graphic drawings and a very experienced design staff. Whatever your project, whether it's a complete set of plans for new construction, a floor plan for remodeling or a kitchen/bath 3-D layout, we'd be happy to assist you with your ideas or help you get started.

Will you build plans that are from another designer?

Yes, Van Strydonk Construction, LLC has used many different designers' plans. We've worked with architects on new homes, extensive remodels, small banks and dental and office buildings.

How far will you travel to a job site?

We generally travel within a 50-to 75-mile radius of Tomahawk, WI.

How many crews do you have?

We have three to four crews working year round.

What about sub-contractors?

As a general contractor, we take the responsibility of scheduling and managing all sub-contractors. We have preferred sub-contractors that we like to use, but can use one of your choice at your request. All our sub-contractors are fully insured and licensed.

How long have you been in business?

Van Strydonk Construction was established in 1980.
